Eco Credentials Explained
Our product pages highlight specific features to help you make informed choices. This guide explains what those descriptions mean.
We aim to keep our product information accurate and up to date. If we identify an inaccurate or unsupported product description or credential, we will review it and correct or remove it as appropriate.
Where the information comes from
Product and packaging details are based on information provided by suppliers. A descriptive badge is not, by itself, an independent certification. Where a product has a certification, we identify it separately.
Vegan
The product contains no animal ingredients or animal derived materials. This description does not on its own, establish whether the product has been tested on animals.
Plastic-Free Product
This describes the product itself, rather than its packaging. Any exclusions or components requiring clarification are explained on the product page.
Plastic-Free Packaging
This describes the packaging supplied with the product. It does not automatically mean the product inside is plastic-free.
Reusable
The product is intended for repeated use. Follow its care instructions to help maintain its condition.
Refill or Refillable
A refill replenishes an existing container. A refillable product has a container designed to be replenished. Product pages explain the compatible refill options.
Recycled
The product or packaging contains material recovered for reuse. Where available, we specify the material, percentage and component concerned.
Recyclable packaging
The identified packaging can be recycled through a suitable collection system. Check the product's disposal instructions and your local recycling guidance.
Compostable
Composting claims apply to the specified product or component under stated conditions. Home composting and industrial composting are different; follow the instruction on the product page.
Understanding the limits
Each description applies to a particular feature. It does not mean that the whole product has no environmental impact.
