Reusable Swedish dishcloths made in Sweden from FSC®-certified cellulose and waste cotton.

These Wild & Stone Swedish dishcloths are made from FSC®-certified cellulose and waste cotton, combining the absorbency of a sponge with the flexibility of a cloth.  They can be washed and reused many times, then cut up and added to home compost at the end of their useful life.

Why we stock this

We looked at the materials first.  These cloths are made from FSC®-certified cellulose and waste cotton rather than synthetic microfibre or plastic sponge materials.  The FSC® certification gives us something specific to verify about the wood fibre source, rather than relying on a vague environmental claim.

We also checked how they are made and what happens at the end of their life.  Wild & Stone confirms that they are made in Sweden, printed with water-based inks and can be cut into strips and added to home compost once worn out.

What it's made of

FSC®-certified cellulose: the wood-derived fibre that gives the cloth its absorbency.  Wild & Stone states that the cellulose used in this product is FSC®-certified.

Waste cotton: Cotton fibre used alongside the cellulose to create the cloth structure.  Wild & Stone also describes the cotton as recycled waste cotton in its own editorial content.

Water-based ink: Used for the coloured print on the cloths.

Full material composition: FSC®-certified cellulose and waste cotton.

How to use and care

  1. Wet the cloth before use.
  2. Use for wiping worktops, sinks, appliances, dishes and everyday spills.
  3. Rinse after use and allow to dry.
  4. Wash in the dishwasher or washing machine up to 90°C.
  5. Line dry rather than tumble dry

End of life

When the cloth is worn out, cut it into smaller strips and add it to your household compost.
