Jungle Culture's Aloe Vera & Mint Shaving Soap Bar is handmade in Vietnam using a coconut-oil base, shea butter, peppermint essential oil, and aloe vera extract.  The solid format replaces conventional foam or gel packaging and is designed to create a rich lather for use with a safety razor.  Jungle Culture states the bar is vegan, cruelty-free, palm-oil free, and plastic-free.

Why we stock this

We checked the full ingredient list rather than relying on the word "natural". The formula is short and clearly disclosed, using coconut oil, shea butter, glycerin, peppermint essential oil, and aloe vera extract.

We also liked the solid format. There is no aerosol can or plastic shaving-foam bottle to replace each time, and Jungle Culture supplies the bar in plastic-free packaging.

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil): Forms the main soap base.

Aqua: Water used in the soap-making process.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter: Adds conditioning properties to the bar.

Sodium Hydroxide: Used during saponification to turn the oils into soap.  

Glycerin: Helps retain moisture.

Peppermint essential oil: Provides the mint fragrance and cooling sensation.

Aloe Vera Powder Extract: Included as part of the skin-conditioning formulation.

How to use

1. Wet the shaving bar and the area to be shaved.
2. Work the bar between wet hands or use a shaving brush to create a lather.
3. Apply the lather to the skin.
4. Shave using your usual razor.
5. Rinse the skin and razor thoroughly.
6. Allow the bar to dry fully between uses.

Good to know

Peppermint essential oil can feel cooling on the skin but may not suit everyone with sensitive skin.  Patch testing is sensible if you are prone to fragrance or essential-oil sensitivity.

Care

Keep the bar somewhere dry and well-drained between uses.  A draining soap dish will help prevent it sitting in the water and becoming soft prematurely.
